There is great excitement at the Academy as we are celebrating Easter a little early this year thanks to a project paid for by The Support the Students Association. Students have been given the chance to witness the hatching of 20 eggs over two weeks (we have had 7 hatchlings overnight).
The eggs were delivered to the Academy on Monday 13th March by Living Eggs who work regularly with schools. They are being kept in incubators and carefully cared for by Science Staff. Once they have all hatched we will be able to share them a little more with students. Staff are on standby to take over the weekend shift as the chicks cannot be left unattended (we have had quite a few volunteers for this lovely task).
At the end of the two week programme the chicks will be rehomed to free range smallholdings.
Day Three 12.23pm - We have 8 chicks and 2 more on the way
